Giveaway - Total War: The Grim and The Grave

To celebrate the release of Total War: WARHAMMER The Grim & The Grave, I have 3 copies of the DLC to give away! Just leave a comment on this post, make sure you include something so I can identify who you are (Steam handle or something similar), and answer the following question:
  • Do you come to Total War:WARHAMMER as a player (or former player) of the tabletop game, or is Total War your first involvement in the Warhammer world?
On Sunday (11/9/2016), 3 of the responses will be chosen at random to receive one of the DLC codes I have in my possession.

Answers will be used for the purposes of careful research (ie: I am just curious).

Also, if you have not already seen it, the guys over at Creative Assembly had a go at recreating the Battle of Vanhaldenschlosse at a more sensible level than the hilarious disaster I oversaw here. Go check it out!

  2. Hello to everyone ! I personally learned about warhammer through total war, when warhammer was first announced i did my research on this universe ( always was a total war fan) and i fell in love with it! Ever since, i have been reading lore, watching and reading bat reps and even learned the game through them. I also visited this blog a few times before CA decided to collaborate with you guys ( something i'm kiinda proud of :P ) My fav race by far are the Vampire Counts, and i would love to get my hands on anything that adds new stuff for em. My steam account is breil6 , or nickpar13 , not sure which name you want :D thanks for this opportunity !

  3. Hi there,

I've been playing tabletop warhammer off and on for 15 years. I've been following your blog since you reviewed the 8th ed magic lores, i find your writing style hilarious and love the old fashioned written bat reps. I've been reading it less since you switched to kow, as I moved across to 9th age after The Cataclysm.
I've also been a long running player of total war, and wtw was a perfect combination for me to revisit the old world and pretend everything was fine. I was also lucky as my 4 tabletop armies are the payable ones in the game.
    Cheers

    1. Sorry to hear KoW is not of interest to you. No doubt I'll try 9th Age at some point, but I don't have unlimited time at the moment. Good luck in the draw!

  5. Hello,
I became interested in Warhammer since the 6ED
My first army was Dark elves, as I was pretty young and the poor did not have a lot of models, it was necessary to replace it with paper models;) but I really liked to face the Chaos, Goblins and Lizardmens that my friends had. My main opponent, with the most frequently played with was not a good tactician, so sometimes I had to give him the win, not to get discouraged and played on. Then unfortunately I had to get rid models. I tried to go back to the VC, but it's hard in my town to find opponents.
I didnt played Total War yet , but I'm going to change it as soon as possible because of the trailers, gameplays, etc. i'd really like.

  6. Hi!
I became interested in warhammer at 5-6 years old, i used to watch my brother and his friends play the tabletopgame. I loved watching and was fascinated by it, but i never aztually played the tabletop myself and they eventually stopped playing. So warhammer kind of died out for me until reccently when Total war warhammer was released. Yet again i was fascinated and the love for warhammer was rekindled. So not long ago i bought my first lizardmen and have started painting them.
So i really hope i am lucky enough to win a code seeing as i have just taken up this awesome, but expensive hobby :D

Greetings from a now 19 year old Norwegian warhammer lover :)

  7. Yo :) I actually played D&D with a lot of Warhammer artwork used in it before realising that the monsters in that campaign were inspired by the Forces of Chaos :D And then i got into Warhammer, as Warriors of Chaos ^^

As total war is one of my favorite games ever, i really fell in love with Warhammer TOtal war! :D

  9. Used to play with my brothers army and was always a fan of the lore. Never got into the game myself though. just didn't want to spend that much money on it, so Total War is a great supplement for me.

  10. First off, very nice of you to do this. I'm a long time warhammer player who picked up Total War because how could I not? Been playing on the computer since Horned Rat and am really happy to see the game back in the PC. You can reach me through google if need be. :)

  12. Hi
Been a long time warhammer follower, having first played in school days around 3rd / 4th ed. I got back into it about 4 years ago, partly inspired by your blog (which I found after a link to the Battle of Finuval Plain from druchii.net) and podcasts like the Dwellers Below. Like you I have moved onto KoW after GW killed the Warhammer world. I first came across TW with Shogun 2 and loved it. I've similarly loved TW: Warhammer, although I am finding it tough to balance TW and hobby time!

  14. I played both 40k and Total War since I was a kid. I always liked the idea of Warhammer fantasy but couldn't afford two games. I read some of the books and really enjoy the lore so I knew I was getting this game as soon as it was announced.

  15. I started playing Warhammer Fantasy back in 5th Ed, when magic was real magic and Emperor Dragons ruled the skies. I haven't played a lot of it for the last few years, but I tried out Total War and liked it. I haven't played any of the previous Total War games (historicals aren't really my thing), but this one has the fantasy elements that I like.

  16. Hi Hoodling,

first of all, thanks a lot for your blog and amazing content! Such a shame you switched to KoW instead of 9th age, but I will keep checking your blog regardless :-)

As for the question, I have started playing Warhammer at high school, took a break during university and re-started again 3 years ago. Actually, one of the reasons for the university break was that I discovered the Total War series, which I am a big fan of; I have almost all of the titles from the series. I had mixed feelings about Warhammer total war before its release, on one hand excited about combining both worlds, but on the other fearing how Warhammer mechanics will work with Total War. It seems they have done a pretty good job, though :-)
