July Slow Grow

July is over, and so another month of the slow grow has passed. It's been a relatively quiet month from our participants. Some are making progress, but some are stuck, busy or distracted. Well, I'm sure at least some of us will get there in the end (wherever "there" is)...

I have completed another War Wagon. This is a Magori miniature, pulled by Reptilian Overlords horses.
This is actually the second War Wagon I've painted for my Nuln force, but the first one was before the slow grow began. That first one had turquoise as its identifying colour, but this one got purple.
I also painted a unit of Outriders. These guys were probably assembled and undercoated well over a decade ago, but they're finally getting their time in the sun.
Choosing where to add accent colours wasn't easy with these guys. The yellow on them is pretty limited.

Sean
Sean has continued with a very character-heavy focus in his painting. He also finally went and did some proper basing on his army, apparently... Just not in time for these photos.

A Tzeentch Herald on a chariot
I find the colour palette on this model quite fetching.

And this one is an Exalted Flamer on a Burning Chariot of Tzeentch
There's a lot going on with this model, and as a result it's a bit of a riot of colour.
There's Blue Horrors all over the place. I don't know if Sean was going to bother, but I printed some anyway, and here we are.
I really like the little flaming guys, and they do add good spots of colour.
I gather getting the Screamers and all the flames to fit was a bit of a hassle, but he got there.
Some experimentation has also been happening with Fiends. I don't think there's a unit yet.
Note the base adaptor, given this is one of those units that seems to change base size every 15 minutes.

Tim
The Skaven are starting to make proper progress, and there's a growing mound of partly painted stuff as well as the occasional thing that manages to push through to completion.

A Doomwheel has arrived!
This is a digital kitbash that Tim put together from multiple models and a number of components he designed himself

A group of Giant Rats also made it all the way through the process. Again, I think Tim... did things to these models. He also got me to print them too large - those are 25mm bases. These rats are absolutely enormous!
This is how they look under more normal lighting on the painting table. What colour are they really? I don't even know anymore, and all these lights are mine. Stupid photography.

Pete
From out of nowhere, Pete has actually started making progress in the slow grow! Bet you didn't see that coming.

A Mortis Engine from Ilhadiel, although notably not quite finished yet, given it has no Necromancer riding it yet.
Anyway, now that he's actually started, we'll see if that translates into some momentum going forward.

Noakes
Noakes probably painted more than the rest of us combined this month (terrain, anthropomorphic animals, DnD villains and the like), but given that none of it was for the slow grow, I have decided not to show any of it here. He tells me that he's sorry, but he's not sorry. You can tell...

Hamish and Jono
Sadly I have nothing to report from these guys at this point. Obviously there is much shame and disapproving grumbling associated with this. I'm not sure if they've noticed. Maybe next month!

  1. Those colours work very well on the war wagon, and it is a much more sensible shape than the official one.
Fingers crossed it works well in battle!
